“PAINTING THE TOWN” , Spray Paint on Linen, 36x60”, 2021

Structure

My structural paintings come from my dreams. In dreams, I see beauty, wonder, and place; everything is intertwined and incredibly complex - and I never question it. I revisit these places, explore them again, finding more meaning and context every time. And on special nights, I dream a new place. I know a new part of life is emerging, and my brain is providing the plans for it. So intricate, so inspirng, so fleeting.

Nature

My mountain paintings are a collection of recalls. My brain is unable to filter stimuli - noises, smells, sights are all absorbed, whether its comfortable or not. Life overwhelms me constantly- either by the beauty or emptiness of it all. But then I see the mountain ridges, the ocean, the sunlight, the roads. Every moment is a moment to see beauty. Sight guides me - it helps me feel whole. These pieces are a reflection of what heals me, and how I heal myself.

Figure

The human body is the most extraordinary thing I have ever witnessed. So imperfect, so divine. So personal, yet universal. My favorite pieces are my women. The curve of the back, the belly, the butt, the cheeks, the aura - it is all so enchanting. It is with great pleasure that I capture this divinity. Mothers, wives, daughters… whatever the stage, I am blessed to even attempt to understand it all.
